While visits to the dentist are important, dental health starts with a strong oral hygiene routine at home. Make sure you maintain good habits to help you keep your teeth strong and healthy.
Brushing Your Teeth
Ideally, you would brush your teeth after every meal, but at the very least, you should brush your teeth in the morning, and at bed time.
After squeezing a pea-sized dollop of toothpaste onto your toothbrush, place the bristles at a 45 degree angle to the gums, and start working in small circles over the front, top, and back or each tooth. Brushing your teeth should take roughly 2 minutes.
Scheduling Your Dental Care
Even with a rigorous home-dental care routine, it’s still important to have your teeth professionally cleaned and examined on a regular basis.
When Do I Need a Dental Exam
Dental exams are important because they give us the chance to evaluate the health of your teeth, gums, and jaw. Depending on when you last had them done, we may need to take some x rays. You should have your teeth checked twice a year. Our team will either schedule your next appointment when you leave, or will send you a reminder that you’re due for another checkup.
When Do I Need a Dental Cleaning
Professional cleanings are important because they give us the chance to address any problem areas that you may miss when brushing or flossing your teeth. They also give us the opportunity to talk about any potential gaps we may see in your dental hygiene routine. You should have your teeth professionally cleaned twice a year. Our team will either schedule your next appointment when you leave, or will send you a reminder that you’re due for another cleaning.
Services We Recommend
Fluoride
Most people know that fluoride prevents tooth decay. By causing enamel to remineralize faster and stronger than before, fluoride helps strengthen your teeth. But you may not realize that fluoride also helps strengthen your bones, protecting your bones. The better your oral health, the better your overall health.
